As the 2024 holiday shopping season approaches, Amazon says it intends to hire 5,000 people — 4,000 in metro Detroit — for seasonal roles in Michigan that could evolve into full-time or year-long part-time positions.
The company says it expects to add 250,000 employees across the U.S.
Seasonal Amazon jobs offer competitive pay, flexible schedules, and the opportunity to be part of the “bustling retail industry during its busiest time of year,” according to the company. Many of these seasonal roles also come with the potential to transition into regular, full-time employment after the holidays.
“We’re proud to have already created more than 24,000 jobs across Michigan,” Amazon says. “These jobs support communities of all sizes, from large cities like Detroit to smaller areas like Pontiac.
Earlier this month Amazon announced its largest wage increase ever for hourly associates. Members of the company’s front-line team will be getting at least an additional $1.50 per hour starting this month, which will bring their average base wage to more than $22 per hour.
Interested applicants can go to amazon.com/localjobs or text NEWJOB to 31432 to sign up for job alerts. Open roles are posted throughout the holiday season.
