American Expedition Vehicles in Wixom, a Tier 1 OEM supplier that engineers complete vehicle systems, has announced the FXL program for the Ford F 250 and F 350 Super Duty platform.
Developed from the ground up as a fully integrated vehicle system, the FXL program offers two complementary paths.
Customers can choose turn key AEV Super Duty trucks that are fully built and sold through authorized AEV dealerships, or AEV engineered components for those who prefer to build their truck over time.
The FXL will make its public debut this week at the 2026 Detroit Auto Show at Huntington Place.
The FXL conversion is designed as a turn key AEV Super Duty engineered and built as a complete vehicle. Each truck is assembled at AEV’s 200,000 square foot production facility in Wixom using OE style processes and delivered through authorized AEV dealerships with full warranty coverage.
The FXL name traces its roots to AEV’s original Prospector XL, where XL represents 40 in Roman numerals. This directly references the engineering goal that defined the program, fitting 40 inch tires with the least amount of lift possible.
That same objective drives the FXL for Super Duty, prioritizing increased flotation and off road capability while maintaining ride quality, stability, and confidence on road behavior.
FXL trucks roll on 40 inch BFGoodrich HD Terrain tires, a new tire developed specifically for heavy duty applications. Designed to handle the weight, toque, and sustained loads of HD trucks, the BFGoodrich HD Terrain delivers durability and traction without compromising road manners or long distance performance.
Each FXL Conversion offers turn key convenience as a complete AEV built Super Duty delivered through authorized AEV dealerships, eliminating the need for multi-vendor coordination or installation guesswork.
Every vehicle is backed by a comprehensive three year or 36,000 mile AEV warranty covering the entire conversion.
Full compatibility with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems is maintained through radar components integrated directly into the AEV front bumper, ensuring all electronic safety and driver assistance features remain fully functional.
With every FXL Conversion is a complete line of AEV engineered components for Ford Super Duty, available individually through AEV’s global dealer network. The components are the same parts used on the turn key FXL conversions and are designed and validated together.
AEV components are developed with system level thinking that accounts for suspension geometry, load capacity, ride quality, tire fitment, electronics integration, and long term serviceability, the company states.
The FXL component offerings include the AEV four inch DualSport Suspension, a premium dual purpose suspension system developed from decades of AEV’s OEM level suspension engineering.
The system features AEV turned Bilstein shocks, custom rate coil springs, and optimized geometry, striking the balance between capability, ride quality, and handling while preserving OEM payload and towing capacity.
The lineup also includes an AEV stamped steel front bumper constructed from 3 16 inch and 1 4 inch stamped steel, enabling complex form with OEM level fit and finish.
The bumper features a standard winch mount accommodating up to a 20,000 pound winch, integrated Advanced Driver Assistance Systems radar placement, and chassis mounted recovery points rated to meet or exceed OE standards. The front bumper is compatible with Ford F 450 and F 550 models, and its modular design allows for the addition of a heavy duty brush guard available in Q3 2026.
Additional components include the AEV high clearance rear bumper with integrated corner protection and chassis mounted recovery points for real world recovery and towing scenarios, AEV Highmark fender flares made from cross linked polyethylene that allow 40 inch tire fitment with less left while maintaining a lower center of gravity and overall vehicle balance, and 18 inch AEV Katmai DualSport wheels.
The Katmai wheels are part of AEV’s DualSport wheel family and are beadlock capable for severe duty use, with the flexibility to run the beadlock ring or operate as a conventional wheel depending on the application.
Additional AEV components for 10 lug Ford F 450 and F 550 platforms will be released throughout 2026 beginning in Q3. The AEV FXL Program will make its public debut at the 2026 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, marking the next evolution of AEV’s system engineered approach to heavy duty trucks and expanding AEV’s presence in the Ford Super Duty market.
Apart from Ford, AEV in recent years has offered Prospector Ram conversions and GM HD Bison AEV Edition programs.
