The Dodge brand of Stellantis in Auburn Hills celebrated the production of 2026 Dodge Durango R/T 392 Launch Edition models this week at the automaker’s Detroit Assembly Complex – Jefferson (DAC-J).

The vehicle marks the first time the 392-cubic-inch HEMI V-8 engine is standard on the Durango R/T.

“Dealer orders for the 2026 Durango R/T 392 Launch Edition sold out in just six hours, proving enthusiasts are eager for the return of legendary 392 HEMI V-8 power in a three-row muscle SUV,” says Matt McAlear, CEO of Dodge. “With standard HEMI power and all-wheel drive across the lineup, plus best-in-class 8,700 pounds of standard towing on the Durango R/T 392, owners don’t have to choose between performance and capability, they get both.

“The Durango R/T 392 is another example of Dodge delivering the power, utility and excitement our customers expect every time they get behind the wheel.”

The HEMI provides 475 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque and SRT levels of performance to the three-row SUV, accelerating from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds while maintaining the utility and versatility that have defined the Durango nameplate for decades.

“The excitement surrounding the Durango R/T 392 Launch Edition has been clear from the moment it entered production,” says Sean Woodall, senior vice president of assembly operations, vehicles, and SUVs for Stellantis. “This vehicle defines the pride and dedication of the UAW-represented employees who help bring it to life every day.”

The Durango lineup also includes the Durango GT HEMI, the 710-horsepower Durango SRT Hellcat, and Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak, which has 13 million possible customization combinations, according to the automaker.

In Q2 2026, Durango achieved its highest Q2 retail sales volume since 2021 and its best first-half total sales since 2006. In 2025, Durango posted its best total sales year since 2005, up 37 percent year over year, Stellantis reported.

More than 1 million Durangos have been assembled at DAC-J since production of the vehicle moved there in 2010. Combined with production at the former Newark Assembly Plant, more than 2.5 million Durango vehicles have been built since the nameplate first launched nearly 30 years ago.

The DAC-J facility currently builds the entire Durango lineup alongside the Jeep Grand Cherokee, making it one of only three North American assembly plants to produce multiple vehicle models on the same assembly line.

The 2026 Dodge Durango R/T 392 Launch Edition is available now at dealerships.
