Zeiss Industrial Quality Solutions North America, a Germany-based optics and optoelectronics inspection equipment company, has opened a Quality Excellence Center in Wixom.

The 80,000-square-foot, two-floor facility houses nearly 170 employees of Zeiss’ Industrial Quality and Research (IQR) division.

“What an exciting day, being together with customers, team members, all of the partners who have supported us, and officially celebrating their dedication,” says Michael Kirchner, president of Zeiss Industrial Quality Solutions North America.

Attendees of the grand opening event heard from aerospace, new energy vehicle, medical, and electronics industry experts, and took facility tours.

The tours showed the new facility’s modern workspaces and the showroom featuring a portfolio of Zeiss and GOM inspection solutions including industrial microscopes, CT X-ray machines, CMMs and optical systems, non-contact 3-D devices, automated car body systems, and surface and special geometry instruments.

Zeiss develops, produces, and distributes solutions for industrial metrology and quality assurance, microscopy solutions for the life sciences and materials research, and medical technology solutions for diagnostics and treatment in ophthalmology and microsurgery.

The company also is active in lithography optics, which are used by the chip industry to manufacture semiconductor components. It also produces Zeiss-brand eyeglass lenses, camera lenses, and binoculars.

Founded in 1846, Zeiss is headquartered in Oberkochen, Germany. It has approximately 37,000 employees in almost 50 countries with 30 production sites, 60 sales and service companies, and 27 research and development facilities.
