Elevator Service Inc. (ESI) in Grand Rapids, the parent company of City Elevator of Michigan, today announced the acquisition of Elevator Technology, a Detroit-based elevator service provider. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The move expands ESI’s and City Elevator of Michigan’s presence in metro Detroit.

After decades of serving the Detroit community, Elevator Technology owner Wayne Bolen has chosen to retire.

“I wanted to ensure our customers and employees would be in good hands,” Bolen says. “I chose ESI and City Elevator of Michigan because they share our commitment to doing right by the customer and building trust through reliable service.”

With the transition, Elevator Technology now will operate under City Elevator of Michigan. Officials say customers can expect uninterrupted service, strengthened by the additional resources and expertise of ESI’s broader network.

“Elevator Technology has built a strong reputation in Detroit for both technical expertise and lasting customer relationships,” says Ryan Robinson, president of City Elevator of Michigan. “We’re excited to welcome their team and customers into the City Elevator of Michigan family and carry that legacy forward.”

Jason Vallee, CEO of Elevator Service Inc., says, “This is about bringing together teams that share the same values of safety, service, and community. We look forward to investing in Detroit and continuing to deliver the high standards that customers deserve.”

With the acquisition, officials say, ESI and City Elevator of Michigan have reinforced their commitment to supporting Michigan businesses and communities through localized service, technical excellence, and a customer-first approach.

City Elevator of Michigan has expanded its presence across the region in recent years, adding new capabilities in maintenance, repair, and modernization to meet the evolving needs of building owners and property managers, according to the company.
