Detroit Boat Show Cruises into Huntington Place in February

The Progressive Detroit Boat Show, which cruises into Huntington Place in downtown Detroit from Feb. 1-8, will feature hundreds of new boats, including new model introductions, along with accessories, marinas, docks and hoist, services, children’s activities, and more.

The Progressive Detroit Boat Show, which cruises into Huntington Place in downtown Detroit from Feb. 1-8, will feature hundreds of new boats, including new model introductions, along with accessories, marinas, docks and hoist, services, children’s activities, and more.

The annual event is among the top boat shows in the country based on size, attendance, and sales.

Boats will be on display from top dealers from around Michigan and the Great Lakes. Unlike the Detroit Auto Show, the boat show offers one stop shopping with financing and purchasing available on the show floor.

Many dealers attribute up to half of their annual revenue from sales and leads gained from the show.

Features at the boat show will include:

  • Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel returns to the boat show (Feb. 1-2)
  • Live Sharks Encounter Shows Daily
  • Live Stingrays Aquarium
  • Photo op with a Polynesian Princess (weekends only) and her adventure boat.
  • Garmin Electronics Seminars (Feb. 1-2)
  • Tiki Bars with music
  • Annual commemorative T-shirt giveaway
  • Indoor lawn with playground and lawn games
  • Kids Zone with interactive activities, including Boat Driving Simulators
  • Career Day, Monday, Feb. 3, learn more about careers in Michigan’s marine industry.
  • Donations, bring 5 or more cans to donate to Gleaners Community Food Bank on Wed., Feb. 5, between 2-6 p.m. and receive free entry!
  • Free Boaters Safety Course, Feb. 8 (preregistration required)
  • Interactive Progressive Insurance Sponsor Display with appearances by the Shanty Characters, Feb. 1-4
  • Deals, giveaways, and more

The boat show is open Saturdays: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday and Monday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Tuesday through Friday: 2 p.m.-8 p.m. The boat show will end on Saturday, Feb. 8, due to the conflict with Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 9.

Parking is available at Huntington Place and surrounding lots. The Progressive Detroit Boat Show is owned and produced by the Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) in Commerce Township. Revenue generated from the event is returned to fund boater’s interests via MBIA’s programs and services.

Tickets are $14 for adults, free admission (1 ticket) for all active military, police, and firefighters, while children 12 and under get in free if accompanied by an adult.
