Tropolis Insurance Services, an Ann Arbor-based insurance brokerage that provides property and casualty and employee benefits solutions, today announced it has completed the acquisitions of four insurance agencies in metro Detroit, Chicago, and northern Michigan. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

The four businesses are:

  • R&A Insurance in Shelby Township, specializing in commercial lines including churches, and contractors, as well as personal lines customers.
  • Follmer Insurance Services in Brighton, providing commercial and personal lines of insurance, including agriculture farm and life products.
  • Madigan Pingatore Insurance Agency in Sault Ste. Marie, specializing in hospitality, restaurants, hotels, and other commercial lines businesses.
  • BDMH Insurance Services in Chicago, an insurance and risk management solutions agency for skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living communities nationwide.

“Each of these outstanding agencies is backed by great entrepreneurial leaders who share a passion for serving their customers, employees, and communities,” says Jeff Mason, co-founder and CEO of Tropolis. “With strong alignment on our core values of integrity, ownership, leadership, and service, we’re confident that joining Tropolis will strengthen the operations and services of these businesses.”

Mason says Tropolis is committed to supporting a culture of true ownership and collaboration. Qualified employees of all four acquired businesses will be able to participate in an ownership incentive plan, ensuring that the entire Tropolis organization is positively impacted by the firm’s achievements and capital events.

“Partnering with Tropolis allows our agencies to build on a foundation of integrity while contributing to a culture of ownership through the Tropolis’s Employee Purpose Plan,” say the leaders of the four acquired businesses in a joint statement. “Their commitment to employees and customers ensures we’re strategically scaling our businesses and actively insuring tomorrow together.”

The acquisitions follow the announcement of three agencies Tropolis acquired in 2024.
