The Dearborn Inn, which has been closed since February 2023 for “extensive” renovations, is slated to reopen in early 2025, according to Marriott, which operates the hotel.
The historic hotel will re-launch as a part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection, joining the brand’s portfolio of more than 320 independent hotels across the globe.
The Dearborn Inn’s historic nature stems from its being one of the first airport hotels. It sits across Oakwood Boulevard from the Ford Test Track, which was once Ford Airport. The structure was designed by Henry Ford and legendary architect Albert Kahn.
Throughout its history, the hotel has welcomed prominent guests like Walt Disney, Bette Davis, President Ronald Raegan, Eleanor Roosevelt, and others.
According to Marriott, each Autograph Collection hotel is a “product of passion” and inspired by a clear vision, soul, and story — making The Dearborn Inn “a most-fitting addition to one of Marriott’s fastest growing full-service brands.”
Part of the storytelling at the hotel will be historic artifacts on public display, courtesy of the Ford Motor Co. archives, including a pair of aviation goggles from the 1930s and Walt Disney’s autograph.
The renovation, the cost of which has not been disclosed, is said to have balanced saving and preserving the past while infusing “new charm to provide a luxurious guest experience.”
