Carmela Foods, a family-owned specialty food distributor in Fraser, has acquired J. Prescott Co., based in Cincinnati. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition marks Carmela’s expansion into the Lexington and Louisville, Ky. markets. The deal will allow Carmela to deliver expanded resources, broader product offerings, and operational support.
Founded by John Prescott more than 40 years ago, J. Prescott Co. is known for its commitment to quality products and personalized service. As Prescott steps back from daily operations, the transition ensures customer continuity while positioning the business for future growth.
Anthony Tocco founded Carmela Foods in 1992 with one brand and one customer, a philosophy that continues to define the company today, Tocco says.
“Anthony and I built our companies the same way, from the ground up, one customer at a time,” says Prescott. “That shared belief in relationships and service made Carmela the right home for our customers.”
Carmela says it will continue to lean on its partnership with Chef Source and owner Roger Kreager for expertise in key categories, including chocolate, desserts, and specialty items.
