A new American and French bistro and market is slated to open in January in the City Club Apartments in downtown Detroit.

The Warren-based Joe Vicari Restaurant Group has announced The Statler Bistro, the newest addition to its restaurant portfolio. This will be the 22nd restaurant under the ownership of the group, which includes Andiamo and Joe Muer Seafood.

The new restaurant will occupy half of the first floor of the apartment building and be located on the corner of Washington Boulevard and Park Avenue on the former site of the historic Statler Hotel.

The bistro will offer 175 seats, and the décor will have a European feel. Indoor and outdoor seating will be available, and the menu will feature American and French cuisine. The market, a new concept for the restaurant group, will offer groceries and packaged meals.

“We think our vision for a great American and French bistro coupled with an amazing market will be something that will be well received in the market,” says John Vicari, vice president of the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group.

The restaurant faces Grand Circus Park, and the site was once home to the 18-floor, 800-room Statler Hotel, which was built in 1915 and hosted notable business, sports, arts and entertainment, and political guests for six decades.

“We are thrilled to have Joe Vicari opening The Statler Bistro at CCA CBD Detroit,” says Jonathan Holtzman, chairman and founder of the City Club Apartments. “This is exactly what we had envisioned for this historic site. We know that the restaurant and dining experience under Joe’s team will be absolutely incredible. We look forward to the restaurant opening in January of 2021.”

The new 288 apartment and penthouse City Club Apartments CBD Detroit is designed to combine the service and amenities of a five-star hotel with connected apartment living. Amenities include 24/7 concierge, underground valet parking, indoor/outdoor pool, an outdoor movie theater, and a resident club room. Premier Pet Supply, the first full-service pet store to open in downtown Detroit, is also a first-floor tenant.

Additional details on the bistro will be announced in the coming months.
