Adelina, a new restaurant offering a fusion of Italian-Mediterranean flavors, will open on March 21 at 1040 Woodward Ave. (at Gratiot Avenue) in downtown Detroit.

Operated by Bloomfield Hills-based Cicero Hospitality Group, Adelina is a collaboration between celebrity chef Fabio Viviani and two celebrated local chefs, Gabriel Botezan and Marco Dalla Fontana.

Since moving to the United States in 2005, Viviani — a chef, restaurateur, TV host, and best-selling cookbook author — has opened more than three dozen restaurants, bars, and event venues, and his hospitality group serves more than 10 million meals each year.

“I, along with the entire Fabio Viviani Hospitality team, could not be more excited about the opening of Adelina,” says Viviani. “This menu is truly special: a perfect blend of signature Italian dishes rooted in tradition and modern Mediterranean fare. There is nothing else like this in downtown Detroit, and I can’t wait for people to experience it.”

Adelina’s menu will feature a selection of house made pastas, along with entrees such as an orata asada, bistecca alla fiorentina, zuppa di pesce, braised lamb shank, veal limone, half-deboned chicken, a barrel cut filet mignon, and more.

Guests also can order shareable specialties like house made focaccia, seared tuna crudo, sausage and peppers, and a roasted wagyu meatball.

Day-to-day culinary operations will be led by co-executive chefs Botezan, a Le Cordon Bleu-certified chef, and Fontana, recognized for his time at Tutti Matti in Toronto. Both chefs have been prominent figures in the metro Detroit dining scene for years, including cooking alongside one another at Bacco Ristorante in Southfield.

“Our team is excited to bring a new experience to Detroit, where Adelina stands to be the beginning of what will be an exceptional culinary journey for us all,” says Martin Pakideh, principal of Cicero Hospitality Group. “From the menu offerings to the beautiful design of this space, our guests are in for very distinctive dining experience.”

Designed in collaboration with NORR Architecture, Adelina’s 4,000-square-foot space accommodates 88 seats in the main dining room, 22 at the bar, and 20 in the lounge. Design features include a glass mosaic bar, inclusive of Mediterranean-style Komorebi canal golden brown picket polished glass mosaic tiles, handcrafted by artisans. An outdoor patio will be added this spring, which will accommodate an additional 40 guests.

“This project represents the culmination of our team’s vision to bring a unique experience to Detroit,” says Randy Dickow, managing partner and food and beverage director for Cicero Hospitality Group. “Downtown Detroit is now firmly established as a vibrant culinary hub, and we are proud to debut Adelina.”
