The Vanguard Hotel, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection, has opened in Ann Arbor at 201 Glen Ave. near Catherine Street, next to the University of Michigan Hospital.
Developed and owned by Robert Finvarb Cos. and Milford Singer & Co., the Vanguard Hotel offers 188 rooms, including 24 one-bedroom suites ranging from 600 to 900 square feet, with 10 offering two king bed accommodations.
The new hotel appeals to visiting student families, faculty, university alumni, business professionals, and travelers.
“The Vanguard Hotel is not just a luxury destination, it’s a tribute to the independent spirit and academic excellence that define Ann Arbor,” says Jason Nelson, general manager of the hotel. “We are thrilled to welcome guests into an environment that is both refined and approachable, where every detail has been designed to enhance their experience and connection to the city.”
Amenities include Dyson hairdryers, Le Labo bath products, and in-room espresso machines, while select suites offer private patios with lounge seating.
For dining, the hotel offers La Serre, a French-inspired brasserie open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, seven days a week, The restaurant offers “an extensive, world-class wine list” and two private dining rooms.
The menu features fresh, seasonal ingredients, and features a short rib entrée and a raw bar.
“Bringing The Vanguard to life has been a labor of love, and I couldn’t be more excited to see it finally open its doors,” says Craig Singer, principal of Milford Singer & Co in West Bloomfield. “For years, we navigated the complexities of bringing a new hotel to Ann Arbor, one of the highest barriers to entry development markets in the country.”
The Vanguard also offers state-of-the-art meeting and event spaces geared to university-affiliated gatherings, corporate retreats, and weddings. The five event rooms span a total of 11,062 square feet and offer floor-to-ceiling windows.
