Southfield’s HED, a national architecture and engineering firm, has merged with Puchlik Design Associates, an architectural firm in California that specializes in health care facility design.

“We have partnered with PDA on several occasions and have not only been successful, but gratified in the similarity between our two cultures,” says Peter Devereaux, CEO of HED. “HED has a large presence in southern California, and we have been serving clients in the health care sector in other parts of the country for decades.”

According to a report released by financial analysts at Deloitte, health care is a fast-growing sector in the U.S. due to aging and growing populations, a greater prevalence of chronic diseases, and advances in new technologies.

“Our firm will always seek out methods to provide greater depth and nuance in our services to our clients,” Devereaux says. “This is especially important in technically complex, mission-driven sectors like health care, which stand to create the greatest impact for our communities.”

The PDA leadership and staff will join the HED Los Angeles team in their expanded location this year. They join other teams working in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Sacramento, San Diego, and San Francisco, bringing the firm’s number of employees to nearly 500.
