The owners of 6 Salon in Birmingham and Royal Oak — Tomy Lulgjuraj and George and Johnny Nikollaj — have teamed up with Constance Abro to open Dye & Dash, a new salon concept devoted to quick, professional hair coloring. The goal is to add more locations as demand warrants.

“Two things inspired us to create the Dye & Dash concept, with the first being the continued demand for salon service segmentation,” says Abro, co-owner and manager of the new Troy-based salon. “Not everyone has the need, time, desire, or budget for a full-service salon experience every time, and we understand that. First came blow out bars, then eyebrow bars, and we see color bars as the next logical step in the segmentation evolution.”

The 2,000-square-foot salon, which opened Tuesday, employs a team of fully licensed and professionally trained colorists. The service menu includes seven different color treatment options, ranging in price from $25 for an express men’s color to $65 for a full head of foil highlights. Customers can also select from various add-ons, including low-lights ($5) and conditioning treatments ($15).

The salon cuts costs for customers by eliminating the hair drying process from their service, hence their tagline, “We Dye. You Dry.” Instead, the business offers a “DIY Dry Bar,” where following a color treatment, clients can use complimentary blow dryers, flat irons, and brushes, as well as sample a wide array of styling products.

Abro notes the salon staff also hopes to encourage men and women to avoid at-home hair coloring. “There are endless reasons why hair coloring should be left to professionals.  Hopefully by lowering the cost barrier to color treatments, we can convince some DIY hair dye enthusiasts to see what a difference a salon can make.”

The salon, at 3296 Rochester Rd., is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
