The Joe Vicari Restaurant Group in Warren has announced the opening of its first elevated gastropub, the Birmingham Pub in downtown Birmingham. The restaurant, located at 555 S. Old Woodward, Ste. 100, replaces the Triple Nickel.

Over the last few months, the two-level Birmingham Pub was redesigned with 220 seats, including a private banquet area that seats 50 people on the second level. The second floor also features a full-service bar and additional seating with walls of windows that open.

Blendi Suvaria, who has been with Joe Vicari Restaurant Group for more than 15 years working at the Country Inn and Andiamo, Sterling Heights, is the general manager of the Birmingham Pub, joining Chef Clavin Westbrook.

The interior design consists of polished wood and brass booths, and two bars that offer crafted drinks along with an extensive selection of beers, wines, and spirits. Other touches include starburst lights, rich colors, a selection of regionally focused artwork, exposed ceiling, and wood floors.

The menu features a wide selection of appetizers including buffalo cauliflower, pierogi, sausage and peppers, black bean and walnut meat tacos, Rhode Island calamari, and fata paper steamed mussels. A number of salads are offered: Fattoush salad, pub salad, Brussels sprouts, little gem salad, shrimp power bowl, and Birmingham cobb salad.

Entrees include Terry’s famous fried chicken, Ora King Salmon bowl, Alaskan halibut, Grey Goose shrimp and penne, filet mignon, steak frites, and Berkshire pork porterhouse. There’s also the All American Angus tri-blend half-pound burger, the Nantucket sleigh ride, pub Rueben, and southern fried chicken sandwich.

Birmingham Pub is open Tuesday-Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Sunday 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Happy hour will take place every Tuesday-Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Extended days and hours to include brunch and lunch menus will follow in the near future.

On street parking is available, while the Birmingham parking structures offer guests up to 2 hours of free parking without the need for ticket validation. The restaurant is hiring bartenders, servers, and kitchen staff, and inquiries can be made to kfisco@vicarirestaurants.com.

The Birmingham Pub joins numerous Joe Vicari restaurants, including Barleycorn’s Public House in Shelby Township, which opened in March, and the upcoming Bronze Door (formally known as The Hill) in Grosse Pointe Farms, and The Statler Bistro in downtown Detroit that overlooks Grand Circus Park. Both set to open in the coming weeks.

“These new restaurant additions are offering guests a greater array of dining options in new areas across metro Detroit. Each property has been a local favorite for each community they serve, and we are glad to be giving guests additional options that showcase a unique atmosphere, as well as exceptional food and drink choices,” says Joe Vicari, president of the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group.

The company also owns and operates five area Andiamo locations, an Andiamo within Detroit Metropolitan Airport, the Andiamo Celebrity Showroom (an 800-seat concert/event venue located within Andiamo Warren), two Joe Muer Seafood locations — inside the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit and the DoubleTree by Hilton in Bloomfield Hills (formerly Kingsley Inn).

Other restaurants include Brownies on the Lake, The Country Inn with three locations, 29/41 Mediterranean Street Food with five locations, and the Andiamo Italian Steakhouse in Las Vegas. In addition, the group also runs an Andiamo Food Truck and a large catering and event management company that can be set up for meetings, charity affairs, and major sports events like the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.
