Traverse City has added its first new hotel in several years with the opening last week of the Tru by Hilton, a 90-room hotel located on US-31 South behind McDonalds, south of Traverse City.
This becomes the 237th Tru since Hilton first introduced the brand in 2016, which is designed for a younger traveler.
Tru by Hilton in Traverse City features a large public space for groups to gather and play games, while businesspeople can use it as a working space or travelers can enjoy a snack from a 24/7 marketplace.
“This is a vibrant brand and something that is not currently in the Traverse City market,” says Ric Heller, area general manager of NMHM Hotels. “It’s a unique facility that will attract a younger traveler. It fulfills all their needs with an energetic and still relaxing environment.”
Heller says the location is close to downtown Traverse City, shopping districts, popular beaches, and within minutes of all major attractions in the area. He adds the hotel reflects the community.
“We have a huge mural that encompasses what Traverse City is all about, we use local goods, and support local businesses. It showcases the wonderful tourism industry we have here,” he says.
The hotel becomes the second Hilton hotel in Traverse City. “That will be a big draw,” says Travor Tkach, president of Traverse City Tourism. “Hilton is an internationally known brand that is built on quality and taking care of the traveler. It should be a great addition to the region.”
The Traverse City Tru by Hilton has pet friendly rooms, offers a free hot breakfast, a fitness center, free WiFi, and a business center. More information is available at the Hilton website. Information about Traverse City is available here.
