Detroit’s Shinola today announced it is introducing a timepiece collection dedicated to Motown legend Smokey Robinson.

The Robinson collection is the eighth installment of limited-edition watches and products in Shinola’s Great American Series that honors those who have helped shape the culture and made a lasting mark on American history.

Born and raised in Detroit, Robinson helped define a new era of sound. Inspiring people in the city and around the world, his contributions reach far beyond the music industry—and his work is beloved across generations. This collection was crafted to pay homage to his legacy with two new Vinton timepieces, a Runwell Turntable, journals, and a greeting card featuring some of Robinson’s most-popular song titles.

This Vinton — offered in a 38mm and new 32mm case size — features a circular brushed stainless-steel case, true blue enamel dial, and three-link stainless steel bracelet. As with all Vinton models, the case back is engravable, so consumers can share their warmest sentiments—a perfect “My Girl” or “My Guy” kind of gift, Shinola says.

In addition to the timepiece, the limited-edition gift set includes a 45 RPM record adapter, a necessity to play the vinyl of the newly re-recorded versions of “My Girl,” a duet by Robinson and Ramsey Lewis III, and “My Guy” covered by Arya Goya.

“After 60 beautiful years of creating and being inspired by music, I’m still living my dream,” says Robinson. “To partner with and be recognized by Shinola, a Detroit-based company, as their next great American is an absolute honor. I worked closely with them to create a one-of-a-kind watch for both men and women, and I hope my fans wear them proudly.”

Shannon Washburn, president and CEO of Shinola, says, “Shinola is honored to celebrate Smokey Robinson as our latest Great American. Born and raised in Detroit, his impact on music and artists around the world is legendary. Having met Smokey at the onset of the project, I was impressed by his approachability, humility, and kindness. He embodies the attributes in line with the Great Americans Series we celebrate at Shinola.”

To coincide with this launch, Shinola also will be debuting a special-edition blue colorway of the signature Runwell wall clock, to be merchandised alongside the Smokey Robinson Collection.

Limited to 1,000 pieces of each size, the Smokey Robinson timepiece gift set will retail for $950 and be available on Shinola.com and Shinola retail locations beginning Jan. 31. The purchase of a Smokey Robinson Great Americans Series watch grants the buyer access to The Foundry: a private collectors’ club established exclusively for owners of limited-edition Shinola products.
