Detroit startup MAXPRO Fitness announced it will launch its new portable fitness machine in January after receiving a Best of Innovation Award for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Jan. 7-10.
The device features onboard electronics and sensors that communicate to the MAXPRO coaching app, which acts as the user’s personal trainer. With the app, users can view all of their workout data, history, and progress towards their goals. They can post their workouts and challenge their friends.
MAXPRO, along with other winners, will be displayed in an exhibition area specifically for CES Innovation Award winners. Show organizers say the pavilion is the most visited area at the show, which attracts more than 180,00 attendees.
“We are very excited and grateful to receive this honor,” says Nezar Akeel, founder and creator of the MAXPRO. “We’ve worked tirelessly on this product because we believe strongly that people should have a quality, comprehensive fitness solution at an affordable price. What we have designed is revolutionary as is evident by our recognition from CES and our kickstarter campaign ranking in the top 1 percent.”
Akeel says MAXPRO is changing fitness by enabling the gym to be wherever the user is.
MAXPRO incorporates a proprietary and patent-pending resistance mechanism called the PowerClutch. The new tech allows for up to 300 pounds of resistance in less than a 10-pound package, and is compact and portable enough to fit in a drawer or a carry-on travel bag, according to the company.
Prices start at $429. MAXPRO is available for preorder on Indiegogo and will be available online in January.
