Fathead, a manufacturer of large- and small-scale graphics based in Detroit, announced Joey Rexford — co-founder of sticker and accessories company Big Moods — as the company’s new CEO, along with the acquisition of a stake in Big Moods to continue growth. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Fathead expects the stake in digitally native Big Moods to allow it to grow its focus on trendy design, digital marketing, social media, customer engagement, and retail expansion. Big Moods provides trendy and unique designs and messages on stickers made of durable vinyl in the U.S.

“At Fathead, we believe that in life you have to go big with it,” says Rexford. “This acquisition further positions Fathead and Big Moods to accelerate their growth, and continue providing customers superior quality products, on-trend designs, and licensed graphics.”

Fathead’s roster of graphics covers licenses from NFL and MLB to Disney and Star Wars, and their products range from life-size wall graphics, big heads, murals, wallpaper, and stand out free-standing cutouts to smaller-sized decals (Fathead Minis). Fathead’s custom creation product line allows for customers to upload their own images, and turn them into wall graphics, big heads, standouts, and more.

“Upon acquiring Fathead in March of 2020, we took a critical look at our business model and knew there were opportunities to be leveraged,” says Tony Saunders, owner and chairman of Fathead.

“Bringing Joey on the team is all about one word, growth. We purchased Fathead believing we could improve the fan experience and business fundamentals. We are thrilled to have Joey on board as CEO and to acquire a portion of a growing, exciting brand in Big Moods.”
