LANSING — The Michigan Film Office announced the feature film Division 19 has been approved for a film incentive from the state. Set in Detroit, this political thriller will film in the city and surrounding areas this month.
“The compelling locations found throughout metro Detroit played in big factor in bringing this project to Michigan,” said Margaret O’Riley, director of the Michigan Film Office. “Division 19 is committed to using Michigan crew and to providing jobs and experience for our workers.”
Division 19 was awarded an incentive of $260,000 on $840,000 of projected in-state expenditures. The project is expected to hire nearly 100 Michigan workers with a full time equivalent of five jobs.
Set in a dystopian future, prisons have become a system of online portals where the public gets to decide when the prisoners can eat, what they watch and wear and most importantly, when they will fight. When popular felon Hardin Jones escapes, he will face a race against time to save his family and piece together the plans of those who run the system.
In Fiscal Year 2013, 25 projects have been awarded a total of $36 million of approved production expenditures for the year. These projects are expected to create 1,792 Michigan hires with a full time equivalent of 661 jobs.
