Xevo, the automotive software company of Southfield’s Lear Corp., is partnering with South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Co. to deliver Xevo Market capabilities to vehicles in the U.S. and Europe.
Xevo Market is a merchant-to-driver interaction platform and media channel for automotive and mobile commerce. It will allow customers with compatible Hyundai vehicles to interact with merchants through an interface on the in-vehicle touchscreen and Hyundai’s mobile app. Offerings will include fuel, parking, dining, and more.
The platform is expected to help merchants increase the adoption of merchant loyalty programs and gives merchants the ability to promote through touchscreen notifications. Xevo Market also leverages real-time interaction data such as location and time of day to deliver a personalized product.
“Our Xevo Market technology allows Hyundai to offer their customers a personally-tailored connected-car experience by interacting with their favorite brands safely and securely in their vehicle,” says John Absmeier, chief technology officer for Lear.
Lear offers automotive seating and electrical and electronic systems and serves every major automaker in the world. Xevo is its Seattle-based connected car software division.
Hyundai was established in 1967, and its vehicles are available in more than 200 countries. It sold more than 4.5 million vehicles globally in 2018.
