Plymouth Township-based Tespo has launched Smile Bariatric, a new division designed to support bariatric (weight loss) surgery patients, as well as a digital health platform to help them manage their nutritional needs.
The Smile Bariatric Complete is a blend of vitamins and supplements to be used for post weight loss surgery. It’s delivered in a two-ounce liquid through Tespo’s smart dispenser. The liquid vitamin spares patients from having to swallow a large number of pills each day.

Taken two times a day with a calcium supplement, the solution meets the standards defined by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery for most types of weight loss surgery. The ingredients that comprise the supplements are customized for each individual through physician consultations.
Like a one-cup coffee brewer, a Smile Bariatric Complete pod is placed in the Tespo Connect Dispenser, and the contents are mixed with water. Smile Bariatric Complete is also available in travel packs called Stickpacks, which come in a powdered form ready to mix with water without the dispenser.
The dispenser also syncs with users’ smart phones, Amazon Alexa, activity trackers, digital scales, and other smart devices, allowing the dispenser to monitor and track health goals and nutritional compliance.
By connecting to the Baritastic app, customers receive notifications and reminders and have access to support groups, recipes, and more. The data can also be shared with medical professionals. The app is used by more than 30,000 people per day and used as a patient supplement platform by more than 85 hospitals in the U.S.
Smile Bariatric products are available in berry flavor, and citrus and tropical punch flavors are expected to be available soon.
