Vaica Medical, an Israeli provider of medication adherence and remote patient management technology, has been selected by the Pediatric Heart Transplant Center at Detroit’s Children’s Hospital of Michigan as a technology partner.

The goal is to implement a new digital clinical care workflow to improve patient outcomes, which will be achieved by remotely monitoring medication adherence and persistence. The target population includes pediatric heart transplant recipients at Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

The monitored medications include immunosuppressants that are essential in the post-transplant regimen and are crucial to prevent post-transplant graft loss. Dr. Swati Sehgal and Dr. Diana Torpoco Rivera are the lead investigators in the project.

The company’s solution addresses the needs of both the patient and service provider, combining smart medication dispensers with an easy-to-use global system for mobile communication (GSM)-based cloud software.

Medy, Vaica’s medication adherence platform, available on the Apple App Store, is designed to enhance the connection between the patient and service provider. It utilizes reminders; a data log for medication quantities, dosages, and more; a health history tab; device sharing; and a variable weekly, biweekly, or monthly view of medications.

It also features a management portal for service providers that is designed to provide a comprehensive patient compliance management portal. It allows caregivers to manage multiple patients, personalized setting fit to the caregiver and patient needs, customized adherence and health data reports, quick integration with an open API, and a Wide Telehealth solution to help manage peripheral vital sign monitors.

Vaica’s solutions are distributed worldwide and used by various healthcare organizations. For additional information, click here.
