    –  A  D  V  E  R  T  I  S  E  M  E  N  T  –

As we look to the New Year, we spend a lot of time talking strategy and what’s next. But it’s also important to reflect on where we’ve been and celebrate the wins.

As I look back on 2018, I consider it one of my best years ever—both professionally and personally. When I was asked what our top 10 highlights were at Marco, it was easy to rattle off a list so I thought I’d share them with you.

    1. Expanded our national footprint
We integrated seven acquisitions this year including our largest in history, which added 10 locations on the East Coast.

    2. Volunteered over 10,000 hours
We work hard—and we serve hard. We just completed one of our favorite traditions at Marco. Employees in all of our locations rang the bell for the Salvation Army. I enjoyed my time at the red kettle with my co-workers. (You can watch the video on Facebook).

    3. Donated to 250 charities
Giving back is a part of our company DNA. We donated to a variety of charities across our regions this year and we had our largest United Way campaign ever, raising over $220,000.

    4. Hosted our largest event in our history
Our 2018 Technology Tradeshow was a huge success that included a private concert featuring REO Speedwagon. We hosted 560 clients and 43 exhibitors at the new Mystic Lake Center in the Twin Cities. We thank our vendor partners for helping us make this happen.

    5. Added 13 new locations
We entered three new states, and each new office provides an opportunity for us to serve customers and give back to our local communities.

    6. Provided new career opportunities
We welcomed over 400 new employees this year to our team. Providing career paths for employees is among the activities that I am most proud of at Marco.

    7. Completed largest sales transactions
We had two major account sales transactions that totaled $25 million in revenue. These complex IT projects required our sales, technical and support teams to execute well. I’m proud of their work and collaboration.

    8. Posted double-digit financial growth
We will finish 2018 with top and bottom line growth of over 15 percent. While this has been our track record, it does get harder as the business gets larger. I’m happy to say, we’re growing in the right places.

    9. Grew new business unit
While sustaining our position as the #1 copier dealer in the United States last year, we also grew a new business unit. We expanded our Shred Services business from St. Louis to our St. Cloud market this year. Early indications show this was a good decision.

    10. Earned 19 workplace awards, including in newer markets
I remember when we earned our first top workplace award. Sustaining and promoting a culture as we have grown takes effort. Each of these awards validates that the culture we built and the work we’re continuing to do is working.

On the personal side, I got married and expanded my family and friends. This was my No. 1 highlight. I also celebrated my 60th birthday and became the No. 1 employee, which means I have been here the longest (34 years) and I’m probably the oldest.

I encourage you to write down your highlights for 2018. It’s a good practice, reminding you of all the things to be grateful for and helping you consider what’s next.

I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year. May your list of highlights be long in 2019.
