Dr. Ellen Janetzke, founder of Dr. Ellen Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Bloomfield Hills, is celebrating over 20 years in practice. Her successful and highly respected private practice was built around her ability to understand, anticipate, and fulfill patient expectations, honestly and realistically. Not only has she created a successful, well-respected business, but she’s established a reputation as both a gifted surgeon and a caring doctor.
“I had a patient recently on whom we performed a face-lift. When I showed her the pre-op pictures compared to what she looked like just a few weeks after surgery, she started to cry. And, of course, it made me cry those same tears of joy. That’s why I do what I do.”
Dr. Ellen says there have been many advancements in the plastic surgery field, which continually inspire and motivate her to keep up with latest trends. This includes the use of artificial intelligence with liposuction to improve surgical outcome with higher precision and more minimally invasive treatments for excess skin and wrinkle reduction that require minimal downtime with no surgery.
One area that hasn’t changed is Dr. Ellen’s commitment to “shaping confidence” and her personalized approach to educating patients through every step of the process, which is designed to ensure that her patients achieve the best possible outcome. “There is a philosophy that my team and I continue to strive for and that is education and excellence, as we want our patients to know as much as possible about the procedure, recovery, and expectations, while exemplifying excellent customer service and teamwork.”
“When considering plastic surgery, it’s essential to be comfortable with your surgeon and staff, and to have your goals completely understood,” she says. “Our mission is to gain our patient’s trust and guide them through every step from the initial call my patient makes to the practice, to the very last appointment when we celebrate how far they have come with their before and after photos. It can be life-changing seeing the results and how it makes the patient feel.”
Dr. Ellen says, “I have personally hired mid-level providers who are not only highly skilled in their surgical or non-surgical treatments, but who very engaged in patient education and maintaining a friendly and comforting rapport with patients. I have an excellent team who shine in their positions and are fan-favorites with our patients, some of which have been here for as long as I have been in practice.”
Of course, there have been a few bumps in the road along her incredible journey. “We’ve had some challenges over those 20 years, including a recession in 2008 and, of course, Covid in 2020,” Dr. Ellen says. “I think we came out of those challenges better and stronger.” With all she has accomplished, it will be exciting to see where the next 20 years leads Dr. Ellen and her practice.
