WXYZ-TV and the Detroit Lions Announce New Partnership

Four-year deal provides viewers with Lions coverage across all WXYZ platforms.

SOUTHFIELD – WXYZ-TV and the Detroit Lions announced a new four year partnership that will bring Lions football to fans in Detroit and around the country, through various platforms including, on-air, on-line and mobile, beginning with the 2012 season.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue the amazing partnership we began last year with the Lions organization,” said WXYZ Vice-President and General Manager, Ed Fernandez.  “There is so much momentum surrounding this Lions team, and we are committed to using our resources to help bring the energy of Lions football to fans in new and exciting ways … from special programming, to interactive social media efforts and aggressive new mobile initiatives.”

“We are excited that WXYZ will once again be our preseason TV partner,” said Lions President Tom Lewand.  “Our first year together was very successful, and we believe this new long-term relationship allows us to maximize opportunities not only from a broadcasting standpoint but also in the Detroit community and throughout Southeast Michigan…”
