Women's Technology Group Names New Executive Director

DETROIT — The Michigan Council of Women in Technology has hired Sarah Prout as its new executive director.

Prout will be responsible for advancing the council’s strategy to help Michigan become the best state for women to pursue a career in technology. Her role will include fundraising, partnership relations, program development, and transparency in outcomes.

Prout brings nearly 20 years of advocacy and leadership experience to the organization.  Previously, she served as executive director for Blue Water Horizons, a domestic violence homelessness service agency. Prior to that, she was a litigator director for Lakeshore Legal Aid. She also is an adjunct faculty/trainer for both the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and the Prosecuting Attorney Association of Michigan.  

She earned a juris doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law and is published in various law journals in the areas of family law, women’s advocacy, and domestic violence.
