Women's Business Association Partners with Urban Wheel Awards

DETROIT — Michigan Association for Female Entrepreneurs announced its partnership with the 17th Annual Urban Wheel Awards set for January 13,  in the Sound Board Theater at the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit.

The Annual Urban Wheel Awards is a world-class gathering and the only Official Multicultural Event held in conjunction with the North American International Auto Show. The Urban Wheel Awards brings together celebrities, automotive executives, international media, government representatives, and the multicultural community — this year to honor women in the automotive industry. The Urban Wheel Awards is celebrating 17 years of “Embracing Multicultural Consumer and Diversity Inclusion” in the automotive industry.

The Urban Wheel Awards is attended by more than 1,500 CEOs, executives, presidents, and other distinguished individuals from the auto industry and business community at large.

The evening will begin with a vehicle display at 4 p.m. followed by the Celebrity Red Carpet at 5 p.m.; VIP and General Receptions at 5:30 p.m., immediately followed by the awards from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. An afterglow networking reception will conclude the evening.

This year’s event will be hosted by actress Niecy Nash and co-hosted by actor Edward James Olmos. Other guests include Mayor of Detroit Dave Bing, Carolyn Clifford of WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) News, Roop Raj of Fox 2 News, national recording artist K’Jon, national recording artist LJ Reynolds, national gospel recording artist Vickie Winans, and Detroit Lions linebacker Justin Durant, to name a few.

Proceeds from the event will support the Emerging Diversity Education Fund, which provides internships, scholarships, and mentoring to students pursuing careers in communications and the auto industry. The fund has raised more than $500,000 in scholarships, and has trained more than 300 young people for lucrative careers.
