Will Thompson, a litigation attorney at Grand Rapids-based Varnum, has been named vice president of the Detroit Veterans Bar Association.

Founded in 2013, the association is open to past or present members of the State Bar of Michigan who have served in a branch of the U.S. military. The group meets several times a year for veteran-related community service work and networking events.

“Those that have served their country all have a common bond,” says Thompson. “The Veterans Bar Association seeks to enhance that bond between prior service members in the legal profession.”

An associate attorney whose practice is primarily focused on complex commercial, tax, and insolvency litigation, Thompson’s experience includes helping clients with commercial litigation issues ranging from breach of contract claims to fraud claims.

Before his legal career, Thompson served in the United States Marine Corps, Second Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion, Second Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He served two tours of duty in Iraq (2006) and Afghanistan (2008).

Varnum has offices across Michigan.
