DETROIT — Wayne County’s transparency in government website has received the highest rating of an A+, by Ballotpedia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about proactive disclosure of government data and other open government initiatives.
“By making contracts available online as they’re approved by the commission, the procurement process has come full circle and is more transparent than ever,” says Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano.
Ballotpedia says the transparency website allows residents to locate public documents and information by presenting it in a cohesive fashion. The government information available includes but is not limited to: executed contracts, budgets, audit reports, commission meetings and minutes, procurement ordinance, permits, contact information for elected officials and commissioners, contact information for executive staff, public records via FOIA, and local tax information.
