Urban Science Names New Chief Financial Officer

DETROIT — Global automotive retail consulting firm Urban Science has named Laura Kowalchik as its chief financial officer.

Kowalchik is responsible for providing strategic direction for Urban Science’s finance and accounting functions, and implementing best practices to help the firm achieve short- and long-term revenue and profit goals.

Kowalchik brings more than 20 years of experience and most recently served as vice president, corporate controller, and chief accounting officer at Kaydon Corp. in Ann Arbor. In this role, she was responsible for strategic planning, process improvement, systems development and financial forecasting.

Previously, she was vice president and corporate controller at Dura Automotive Systems in Auburn Hills, and senior vice president and chief financial officer at Microheat, Inc. in Farmington Hills.

Kowalchik holds a MBA in finance from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business. She is also a certified public accountant in Virginia.
