TROY — United Shore, an independent mortgage lender, has announced a new $500,000 gift that will create a five-year partnership with the Michigan State University Eli Broad College of Business. The gift will create a new faculty fellow position in the business school to enhance sales research and education.

“This partnership will allow us to work closely with Michigan State faculty to equip students with valuable skills and training that they wouldn’t typically possess as they begin a career in sales,” says Mat Ishbia, president and CEO of United Shore. Ishbia, a former MSU basketball player and student assistant coach, was a member of the 2000 National Championship team.

The United Shore gift will support a faculty member in the Department of Marketing who has exhibited leadership in sales research and sales teaching. A leader in wholesale mortgage lending, United Shore believes in sales as a pivotal and critical aspect of business.

“We view this donation more as a partnership with Michigan State University,” Ishbia says. “It’s a platform to develop a best-in-class sales program, as well as a pipeline between Michigan State graduates and the exciting opportunities that exist in the mortgage industry.”
