ANN ARBOR – The Holiday Inn near the University of Michigan announced it has started a more than $4 million complete renovation. From the guest rooms, restaurant and ballroom to the lobby and exterior, all areas of the hotel will be renovated.

“Visitors love this hotel for its comfort, Guy Hollerin’s restaurant, the friendly atmosphere and proximity to the University, but it’s time for an update,” said Joe Sefcovic, general manager of the Holiday Inn Ann Arbor. “Since 1971, this hotel has been a north side landmark and when it’s done, guests may not recognize the hotel. We’re expanding the lobby and replacing carpet and furniture. Even the exterior will be updated. It’s all to further enhance our guests’ experiences.”

The renovation of the hotel’s indoor/outdoor pool and deck are already complete, and work on landscaping and corridors is underway.  Next on the list of improvements:

  •     Ballroom
  •     Lobby renovation and expansion: all new flooring, furniture, ceiling, wall coverings, and new front desk
  •     Restaurant, bar: bar expansion, new carpets, porcelain floor and addition of a media lounge
  •     Exterior walls, windows and roof
  •     All guest rooms: art work, drapery, carpet, furniture, lighting

The hotel will remain open during the renovation, which is expected to be completed by July 2013. Guest comfort at the forefront while the work is in progress will be available.
