DETROIT — Livio Radio and TuneIn at the 2012 Telematics Update Detroit Wednesday announced TuneIn is joining the Livio Connect software network, providing consumers access to the leading service for listening to music, sports, and news from all over the world in a safe environment, while driving with a smartphone supporting either iOS or Android TuneIn applications.
Additionally, Livio and CSR announced the availability of the Livio Connect API in the production-ready RoadTunes ADK 3.0 release. Starting with Internet radio, Livio Connect brings safe smartphone app interaction while driving, mapping apps controls to the built-in buttons on your car stereo.
Livio Connect is a middleware framework protocol that enables hardware devices and mobile apps, now including TuneIn, to connect to and interact with one another. The protocol acts as a common language that allows users to enjoy 60,000-plus radio stations on TuneIn through hardware devices enabled through Livio Connect.
“Helping TuneIn get into more dashboards is the perfect example of our mantra of ‘More Music, Less Work.’ This deal’s been in the making for a long time, and as one of our first partners, it’s great to finally publicly announce it,” said Jake Sigal, founder and CEO of Livio Radio.
“TuneIn continues to focus on the safest way to bring the TuneIn services into vehicles,” said Carl J. Rohling, vice president of Business Development. “TuneIn will continue to support platforms like Livio Connect, which provide safe and seamless access to TuneIn for major OEM’s.”
Demonstrations of Livio Connect are being held at the Livio Radio booth #27 at the 2012 Telematics Update in Novi, Mich. TuneIn will also be exhibiting at booth #20.
