Troy-based Altair Expands With New Office in South Africa

TROY — Altair, a U.S.-based engineering company headquartered in Troy, recently acquired EM Software & Systems – South Africa, makers of FEKO electromagnetic field analysis software.

FEKO is now becoming part of Altair’s computer-aided engineering suite HyperWorks. With this move, Altair gains a local presence in South Africa with tremendous depth of industry expertise. Personnel in Stellenbosch will be responsible for all Altair sales and support activities in the region.

Altair’s technology allows businesses to create products efficiently and cost effectively. Apart from several modeling and visualization products, HyperWorks offers analysis and optimization for structural analysis and lightweight design, computational fluid dynamics, multi-body system performance, manufacturing process simulations for metal and polymer extrusion, sheet metal forming simulation, and more.

Executives from the company are in South Africa this week to attend the launch functions in Pretoria and Stellenbosch.
