Dykema, a national law firm, Feb. 6 announced that Thomas M. Schehr has been named director of the firm’s Financial Industry Group. Schehr replaced Ed Weil, who was appointed to Dykema’s Executive Board.
The Financial Industry Group is multi-disciplinary and brings together Dykema lawyers from all regions of the country in the areas of litigation (commercial and consumer financial services), lending and corporate finance, regulatory/compliance, and restructuring/insolvency.
Schehr has spent the past seven years as leader of Dykema’s Financial Services Litigation Practice Group. In his new position, he will continue to be based in the firm’s Detroit office. He has represented clients in litigation matters including financial services, shareholder, commercial, real estate, and health care disputes. He also successfully tried several business and commercial litigation matters in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration.

Schehr is former president of the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (2014-15) and a Certified Commercial Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. He is a fellow in the American Bar Foundation and the Oakland Bar Foundation, and received a J.D. from Wayne State University, and a B.A. from Michigan State University.
Laura Baucus is to take over as leader of Dykema’s Financial Services Litigation Practice Group.
