BOYNE FALLS — Michigan’s first ProSlide SuperLoop, an extreme body slide with a 360 degree loop, opens Dec. 6 at Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain Resort.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new half-million dollar attraction was held on December 4. Following the ceremony, guests on hand for the event were able to don a suit and enjoy the ride.

Patrick Patoka, Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark director, says the first riders have been elated with the slide, called The Big Couloir.

“Riders are excited, laughing, giving high fives, and having an all-around great time,” says Patoka. “The Big Couloir provides everything a great slide should, combining anticipation with a free fall sensation and an adrenaline rush. We wanted a new thrilling ride for Avalanche Bay, and we found it in The Big Couloir.”

The Big Couloir experience begins in a launch capsule and features a trap door that drops away and propels riders into an enclosed tunnel traveling with G-force at speeds up to 38 feet per second through the length of the 360 degree SuperLoop before slowing with a splash.

The attraction welcomes riders 48 inches and taller.
