Suburban Sports Group (SSG), an owner and operator of sports and entertainment facilities based in Farmington Hills, announced the hiring of Craig Wotta as the new general manager at Suburban Ice — Macomb.

“We are very excited to welcome Craig Wotta to the Suburban Sports Group team,” says Tom Anastos, CEO of SSG. “Craig has a wealth of experience leading and managing people and has a tremendous passion for the ice arena industry.

“He will make an immediate impact working with our very dedicated and talented staff at Suburban Ice — Macomb to ensure that our customers have smiles on their faces every time they leave the arena. Given the depth of Craig’s experience, we also look forward to the contribution he can make throughout our organization as well.”

Wotta brings almost 25 years of management experience to SSG and will be responsible for managing all staff and programming. The 70,000-square-foot arena, which opened in August 2005, is home to the Macomb Hockey Club, Onyx Suburban Skating Academy, Eisenhower Eagles, Romeo Bulldogs, Utica Chieftains, PKHL, Macomb Adult Hockey League, and the Macomb United Figure Skating Team.

“I am thrilled to join the Suburban Sports Group team and serve the Macomb community,” says Wotta. “Ice arena management is a passion, and I am excited to see the smiles and vibrant activities inside Suburban Ice — Macomb. We look forward to creating great memories for our guests.”

Prior to Suburban Ice, Wotta served as the conversions manager for Little Caesars Arena and Olympia Entertainment. In that role, he managed all conversions for the 22,000-seat multi-purpose home of the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Pistons, concerts, and other major events. He supervised the 45-person conversions team and 20-person custodial staff. He also served as event management support for NHL, NBA, and major concert tours.
