State Names AmeriStaff to Recertify Nursing Assistants

TROY—The State of Michigan has named Troy-based AmeriStaff Nursing Services for its Certified Nursing Assistant recertification program.

Last April, the State of Michigan made a change to its CNA certification renewal form to better streamline Michigan’s healthcare credentialing process for allied health providers. The “private duty” option, which was on the previous form, was removed. In the past, CNAs were able to complete eight hours of work at most home care agencies. With the form change, CNAs can only recertify every two years at an “approved facility” through the Parametric LARA data base, to maintain their certification. All of AmeriStaff’s current and future employees now have the added flexibility and convenience of working for an employer that can officially certify them for the required eight hours they need to complete every two years at an approved facility.

“This is a great opportunity for our company and staff to participate in the credentialing process for our nurses’ aides,” said Greg Jamian, president of AmeriCare Medical, the parent company of AmeriStaff Nursing Services. “This allows them to maintain their state compliance requirements and fulfill their commitment to quality.”

AmeriCare Medical is the parent company of AmeriStaff Nursing Services, Sun Medical Equipment and Rx iV Specialty Pharmacy.  AmeriStaff Nursing Services provides specialized nursing services to homecare patients and facilities. Sun Medical Equipment provides rental and purchasing options of durable medical equipment to patients.  Rx iV Specialty Pharmacy provides specialized pharmacy services to patients.

“Being CHAP accredited means we set the bar higher for our standards in patient care,” said Christine Andrews, RN and the director of nursing at AmeriCare Medical. “It is a very time- consuming and costly process, but one that we feel is worth it for our patients and nurses.”
