DETROIT — A Startup Weekend intended to give local entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their business ideas and launch a product over a 54-hour time period will take place this weekend.
“Detroit has a rich entrepreneurial spirit,” says Nicole Mangis, CEO of Launch Exchange and organizer of the event. “As a Detroit community we have a chance to truly leverage that spirit to benefit our city and beyond. By giving entrepreneurs tools-in-hand, such as Startup Weekends, we are nurturing that entrepreneurial nature.”
Hosted by Startup Weekend Detroit, the event will run from 6 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Ford Resource & Engagement Center, 2826 Bagley Ave.
Registered participants will be able to form a team around their favorite ideas then work together to create a business model, validate their market, and code and design. The weekend will culminate with presentations from each team and feedback from local entrepreneurial leaders.
The ticket price is $99 and includes access to all three days of the event, seven meals, snacks and drinks, and Startup Detroit merchandise.
