Dr. Robert Williams of Richmond, Va. has joined the Southfield-based Beaumont Health Board of Directors. His selection is the result of a national search for a physician board member from outside of the state.

Williams recently retired after 20 years as a practicing and teaching family physician and health services researcher. He was a principal investigator with the National Institutes of Health as well as vice chair and director of research for a medical school department.

In 1996, Williams left academics at the Medical College of Virginia/VCU and started consulting. During the following 22 years, he served as a senior consulting executive at Ernst and Young, Cap Gemini Ernst and Young, IBM, Deloitte Consulting U.S., and Deloitte Consulting U.K.

Williams completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia and later completed his master’s degree in health services research from the Virginia Commonwealth University.

“Dr. Williams will be an asset to the Beaumont Health Board of Directors providing a physician perspective on primary care as well as expertise on innovative research,” says John Fox, president and CEO of Beaumont Health.  “We are fortunate he chose to share his talent and perspective with Beaumont Health.”
