Barton Malow in Southfield has promoted Lisa Tolbert, Mindy Schultz, and Mario Garza to the position of vice president in their respective company areas.
Tolbert will serve as the vice president of people experience for Barton Malow Holdings, the core services entity of the firm.
Tolbert joined Barton Malow in 1998 and helped create programs that impact team members across the enterprise, including establishing team member networks, the New Hire Ambassador Program, the Awards of Excellence program, advancing DE+I efforts, and other recognition programs and events.
She was recognized for her work with the Ben C. Maibach Jr. Leader Award of Excellence in 2011 and by Crain’s Detroit Business with its Excellence in HR Award in the diversity and inclusion category in 2019.
Schultz will serve as vice president of safety and Mario Garza as vice president of project delivery (automotive), both for Barton Malow Co., the union contractor division that uses an integrated self-perform approach in building automotive, energy, industrial, and advanced industry projects.
Schultz joined Barton Malow as safety director in 2021. Leading a team of about 50 safety professionals throughout the firm, Schultz helped implement various programs to reinforce the importance of safety. Such efforts resulted in improved incident rates. A certified safety professional, Schultz has spent her entire 20-plus year career dedicated to environmental health and safety.
Garza joined Barton Malow as a layout engineer in 1999 and has held several different roles in project delivery throughout his 25-year tenure. He has worked on many projects, including the University of Michigan stadium expansion and palmer drive development. He’s currently leading the Lucid Motors advanced manufacturing plant project in Casa Grande, Ariz.
