Snyder Appoints New Member to Wayne State Board of Governors

LANSING — Gov. Rick Snyder has appointed David Nicholson to the Wayne State University board of governors.

The eight-person board has general supervision of Wayne State University, and controls and directs all expenditures from university funds.

“David is an outstanding professional and has shown great commitment to Detroit,” said Snyder. “I am confident he will effectively serve Wayne State University in this role.” 

Nicholson is a senior executive with Detroit-based PVS Chemicals Inc. where he has worked since 1999. He serves as a board member for various community groups, including the Detroit Historical Society, Forgotten Harvest, Crime Stoppers of Southeastern Michigan and Kids Kicking Cancer. Nicholson holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago. He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Danialle Karmanos.

Nicholson will serve the remainder of an eight-year term that expires Dec. 31, 2018.
