Shinola to Present 2 New Watch Styles at BaselWorld 2015

DETROIT  — Shinola are showcasing two new watches at BaselWorld 2015 – the leading event for the watch and jewelry industry in Switzerland through March 26.

These new timepieces build on Shinola’s commitment to manufacturing in the United States, and mark the next evolution in the brand’s assembly of increasingly complex movements in Detroit, according to Shinola.

One of the watches, The Rambler GMT, is Shinola’s first dedicated to travel — featuring an all-new Detroit-built Argonite movement and 24-hour hand for accurately keeping time across time zones.

The watch also has a 44 mm stainless steel case that is water resistant to 100 meters and like all Shinola Watches, has a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The Rambler GMT will have four different dial and strap variations and will be available May 2015 for $750.

The second watch Shinola is presenting is the Gomelsky Moon Phase. This watch upgrades one of their most popular women’s timepieces and adds an all-new custom moon dial to track the lunar phases, Shinola says.

The Gomelsky Moon Phase features a wider 16 mm strap and will launch both a cream dial with a leather strap and a black dial with a stainless steel case. It will be available for retail March 2015 — costing $650 and $600 respectively.

Newly hired craftspeople were trained through a rigorous coaching program and detailed hands-on instruction to build these watches, Shinola says.
