Troy-based Shield’s Restaurant and Pizzeria will celebrate its 70th anniversary in January in grand style with a 70 pizzas in 70 days contest and a 70 cent pizza day.
“It really has been a great run,” says Paul Andoni, who co-owns Shield’s with his brother Peter Andoni. “We have had so many loyal customers over the years dating back to the original Davison location, we want to do something really special to say thank you.”
From now until the end of December customers can fill out a contest entry form at Shield’s in Troy, located at 1476 W. Maple Rd. or at Shield’s in Southfield, located at 25101 Telegraph to be enrolled. Those that fill out an entry form will automatically be enrolled in the Shield’s E-Club. Starting Jan. 2, each location will pick a winner per day for 70 days.
A celebration will be held from 6-9 p.m. Jan 26 where patrons who visit either location can purchase a small pizza with one topping for 70 cents. Additional toppings are available at regular cost and it is for dine-in patrons only. To sweeten the night, both Shield’s locations will have a very large sheet cake and pass out free pieces until the cake is gone.
