Selden Standard, located in Detroit’s Midtown district, today was named 2016 Restaurant of the Year by Hour Detroit magazine.

“Selden Standard and Chef Hollyday have been one of the forerunners in the incredible transformation we have seen in Detroit’s food scene,” says Steve Wilke, editor of Hour Detroit. “Hour Detroit has a strong connection to the restaurants in this area, and we are pleased to give this recognition to this exciting establishment.”

The restaurant, located at 3921 Second Ave., opened in 2014. It has an urban-chic feel mixed with rustic elements, an open kitchen, and a long bar, says Andy Hollyday, chef and co-owner of Selden Standard. Using ideas from around the world, the menu features locally produced food from Detroit’s Eastern Market cooked over a wood-fired grill.

Christopher Cook, chief restaurant critic of Hour Detroit, says Selden Standard is “moving Detroit into a whole new era” of dining.

Hour Detroit’s Restaurant of the Year issue is available on newsstands or online after March 1 at hourdetroit.com.
