Schostak Hosts Campaign to Support Gleaners Food Bank

2000

Team Schostak Family Restaurants has partnered with Gleaners Community Food Bank to host a “gift card giving tree” campaign aimed at helping end hunger throughout southeast Michigan this holiday season.

Running through the end of December, Detroit Applebee’s restaurant will offer gift cards that are available for purchase and will be donated directly to Gleaners in an effort to help the organization feed thousands of individuals and families in need this winter. For those who purchase a minimum of $50 in gift cards, a mystery gift card ranging from $5 to $25 will also be donated to Gleaners.

“It is estimated that nearly 16 percent of Michigan’s residents lack access to affordable, nutritious food,” says Barb Pasciak , Schostak’s director of marketing. “Together, we are committed to ending hunger in Southeast Michigan and providing these individuals in need with a free fresh and hot meal.”

For nearly 40 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been feeding hungry people in need throughout Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe counties. Last year, Gleaners distributed 34 million pounds of emergency food to more than 510 partner soup kitchens, shelter and food pantries.
