Rebecca Wrock, a partner in the Birmingham-based law firm Varnum, was voted to the position of chair elect of the State Bar of Michigan’s animal law section.
The Animal Law Section provides education, information, and analysis about issues concerning animals through meetings, seminars, public service programs, and publication of a newsletter. She has been an active member of the section for several years, most recently serving as a member of the section council.
Wrock is a member of Varnum’s estate planning team where her practice includes all aspects of estate planning and estate settlement including tax planning, cottage law, charitable gifts, business succession, long-term care, and prenuptial agreements.
She has a focus on crafting trusts for animal companions (pets). She frequently speaks and writes on this topic for community groups, law students and other lawyers.
Wrock is a certified animal friendly attorney. This signifies verifiable work on behalf of animals, and she is a member of the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Wrock serves on the boards of Attorneys for Animals and Barn Sanctuary.
In addition to the animal law section, Wrock is a member of the council for the probate and estate planning section of the State Bar of Michigan. She is also a member of the animal law section of the Florida Bar.
