Detroit-based Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), a water and sewer services provider, has hired Randal Brown as general counsel. Brown joins GLWA after serving as deputy corporation counsel for Wayne County, and will be replacing William Wolfson who will become the GLWA’s CACO.

“We welcome Brown to the Authority, and look forward to the implementation of his vision and direction as the leader of our legal department,” says Sue McCormick, CEO of GLWA. “Brown’s extensive experience in aiding major municipalities with projects like asset disposition and cost-saving contract renewals, coupled with his deep understanding of our key customer communities, makes him well-suited to fill this critical role on our executive management team.”

Prior to his work with Wayne County, Brown worked as an attorney for Plunkett and Cooney, where he served clients in Detroit, Macomb County, Oakland County, Wyandotte, and Oak Park. Additionally, Brown is a member of the Wolverine Bar Association and Foundation and Rose Hill Center’s board of directors.

“I look forward to serving the Authority by using the depth and breadth of my professional experience and passion for public service,” adds Brown. “In my time with the Authority, I aim to build on the successes achieved by the legal team under Wolfson’s leadership, and hope to provide sound legal advice to support the Authority’s continued growth and success.”
