Longtime public relations and marketing professional Jeff Caponigro has left Trion to launch Caponigro Branding & Communications. The new firm will be based in Bloomfield Hills.
Caponigro had been executive vice president of corporate communications and chief marketing officer at Troy-based Trion Solutions since 2018. Under Caponigro’s direction, the Trion brand, with its “You can always rely on Trion” jingle and client-testimonial television and radio commercials, has become one of Michigan’s most well-known corporate brands.
“Caponigro Branding & Communications will leverage my decades of branding, marketing, public relations, crisis management, and training experience to help other corporations and nonprofits,” says Caponigro. “I really enjoyed the last eight years with Trion, and it will be fun to work with an array of clients in the years ahead.”
Before his years with Trion, he founded the former Caponigro Public Relations in 1995 and Caponigro Marketing Group in 2004 and, prior to that, was president and CEO of the former Casey Communications Management.
He is accredited in public relations, and an inductee in the Public Relations Society of America’s College of Fellows, PRSA Detroit’s Hall of Fame, and Central Michigan University’s Journalism Hall of Fame. He is the author of “The Crisis Counselor: A Step-by-Step Guide to Managing a Business Crisis,” which is published in five languages and in audio book.
He earned his journalism and English degree from Central Michigan University and was chairman of its Board of Trustees in 2009, after serving as a trustee since 2004.
